Simple industrial cleaning with clear results
The Cemex cement facility in Tilbury produces cement for construction and infrastructure and invests heavily in reducing its carbon footprint. Less energy consumption, innovative manufacturing methods and shipping options mean that the company is constantly reducing the carbon footprint per ton of finished product.
CHALLENGE
Collection of cement powder
The base of the cement manufactured in Tilbury consists of cement clinker that is ground into a powder. The powder is then mixed with by-products to create the final product. CEMEX’s goal is to take advantage of and recycle as much waste as possible, but the material puts a stop to it. The cement powder behaves a bit like water during handling. This causes problems with the collection – the old way with brushes and shovels were not at all sustainable for the business.
SOLUTION
The vacuum extractor enables recycling
Cemex decided to test a DISAB CompVAC™ in the business. Could vacuum facilitate daily work? The vacuum unit has a high suction capacity and flexible emptying. Easy to handle, easy to empty.
”It can’t be any easier. Point the nozzle at the dust and the job is done.”
Tony Drake, CEMEX
DISAB CompVAC™ is easily moved around the facility using a forklift and can be used where it is needed. The closed system prevents no dust from leaking into the inhaled air. The material that is sucked up ends up in the closed tank and can be easily emptied into any container. In CEMEX cases, all waste material is recycled and goes back to the manufacturing process.
RESULT
Satisfied operators in a clean industry
Tony Drake, responsible for keeping the work environment clean and safe at CEMEX, believes that DISAB CompVAC™ is ideal for the business. Being able to vacuum up dust and waste easily and quickly saves both time and money. Tony Drake is also concerned about the work environment and explains that the operators are very pleased with the new cleaning solutions. Thanks to the closed system, there is also no risk of dust leaking. CEMEX currently uses its DISAB CompVAC™ for waste recovery, dust removal and general industrial cleaning. The result, according to Tony Drake, is a safer working environment with the help of the user-friendly vacuum unit, higher standards for clean-ups and very positive feedback – from both visitors and employees.
