Explosions and safety

Dust and dirt, major safety risk in the industry

We know that safety and work environments are very important to our customers. And we know the great risk of dust in the workplace. All dust poses health and safety risks in the industry, regardless of the type of dust it is, and must therefore be handled with care.

Dust explosions are devastating to the business

Dust is a potential risk factor for explosions. The more the dust, the greater the risk and certain types of dust combined with nearby equipment create enormous safety risks. This can have devastating consequences for employees and operations when this happens. Everything is fine until it’s not, it’s a disaster. From one moment to another the business has been damaged and now the whole business stands still. In the worst case, people were injured.

Insidious safety risks in the industry

Then there are the risks that creep in. Dust that lowers the comfort of everyone who stays in it. Dust that makes employees look around for other workplaces and dust that in the worst cases makes people sick over time. Something as small as dust can have very big negative consequences.

ATEX evaluates risk at workplaces in the EU

Nothing is more important than safety in a workplace. We are all familiar with ATEX, the EU directive that values risk in workplaces where hazardous materials are handled – and specifies what can be done to keep workplaces safer.

Minimize safety risks with vacuum technology

At DISAB, we guide our customers in the safety issues that may arise in a dusty or dirty industrial environment. We help minimize risk with dialogues and by implementing vacuum technology adapted to each premises specific needs. All accordance with ATEX. It improves safety and makes sure to save time and money.

Read about when we helped Oslo’s heat and power plant to streamline the handling of ash-based dust. The dust was excreted in their incineration of 20 tons of waste per hour in the Klemetsrud plant. The industrial vacuum system was specifically adapted to the plant and minimized the risk of both dust explosions and occupational injuries. In addition to the primary goal of installing the vacuum solution, the everyday work was also streamlined, saving the company large costs.
