Health and work environment

How we create a good work environment in the industry

We know how dust and dirt harm humans. In order to promote good health in workplaces in the industry, it is important to ensure good ventilation. Every day, it’s a struggle against the machines and the production that builds up dust, dirt and dangerous toxic substances which pollutes the air that the factory’s employees breathe in. It is unhealthy, can cause respiratory problems and contribute to those who work in the facility getting sick. This danger can be avoided with a modern cleaning system that creates a healthy work environment in the facility.

What is a good work environment?

Work environment is about everything that affects us in our work and at work.
There is a distinction between physical and psychosocial work environment factors where the physical factors deal with ventilation, sound, chemicals and machines.

Good ventilation for a good physical work environment

When working in a factory that performs metal work, employees are exposed to many types of harmful particles that they are at risk of inhaling. When processing metal, small particles are released that, like dust, are transported around the air and end up in the employees’ lungs. The longer you are exposed to this, the greater the negative impact on for example, lung capacity.

Another example of industry that also has a major challenge in achieving good air quality is the wood industry. When drilling and sawing, wood dust occurs, which are large amounts of particles containing dangerous substances that can cause the common occupational diseases, COPD, asthma and chronic bronchitis.
Allergies and eczema are also common. This requires a pipe system with suction that capture the dust at machines and tools, or when cleaning. Something to keep in mind is that you don’t want the wood dust to brush or blow away as it mostly causes problems and creates greater spread of it. It’s far better to suck it up with the help of a vacuum cleaner

Another example of industries where vacuum technology is used to create good ventilation for a good physical work environment are heating plants, cement, asphalt, paper mills, demolition contracts, sorting and recycling companies.

The work environment act governs how the environment at work should be

All employees have the right to a good work environment. The Swedish work environment act (AML) governs and talks about how work environment activities should be organized. You can also read about the basic rules, responsibilities and authority that a company have.
